On the 7th of May 2026, CLIB – an international open-innovation cluster for industrial biotechnology – organised an online webinar with a title ‘Unlocking Lignin – Turning an Unloved Feedstock into Market Solutions’
In this webinar, the cluster presented the approaches taken by the two CBE JU-funded projects COUNTLESS und LIGNOFUN. The audience – among which were our partners UCD and Magfi – heard about different lignin feedstocks and innovative depolymerisation solutions already at demo scale.
The webinar evolved around key questions we have delved in our own workflow and process too:
- How can lignin be turned into a valuable feedstock in a future, sustainable circular bioeconomy?
- How can the complex biomolecule be made accessible for downstream applications?
During the final discussion about common lignin preconceptions and hurdles to valorisation all participants were invited to join and provide their input.
